A few of my favorite days...

And a few million pictures.

Thursday:
My step mom and dad sent the boys a box full of Easter trinkets!
The boys were so excited to pull it all out and eat as much candy as they could before I called the party off!

Lance was off Thursday, so he spent the morning cleaning the garage, moving and tying all the loose ends up for selling the house.
He will deny it, but he stayed in a grump-rut all morning, so I was excited when Candace showed up to shop my closet.

Lance wanted to go to Backwoods and I wanted Mexican food, so we loaded up and headed out!
While I was getting dressed, Lance walked in wearing the same outfit as me and pretended like I was going to have to change.
His humor is so dumb.
And so me!
I laughed really hard about it!
He changed.
We ate.
He found himself and Maddox some sweet deals on jackets at Backwoods and we headed home.

On our way out, we realized the FTW Food Park was open.
We have made several attempts to visit but never catch it open.
The boys and I had cupcakes and Lance enjoyed a Nathan's salami dog.
A guy named Andrew Sullivan was playing.  He played covers from the Lumineers, Mumford and Sons, Green Day, Oasis, and John Mayer... and a few original tunes that were amazing too!
I bought a CD and Maddox and I sang all the words we knew!

It was one of my favorite days in a long time.
(and in true Holly fashion, I have already stalked this cat's FB and scoped his April schedule!)
When we got home, I was trying to get B out of his car seat.  He was freaking out yelling, "hat, hat, hat!"... when I handed it to him, he immediately put it on backwards and then grinned.
It was then that I realized that Lance was wearing his backwards.
(Which, by the way, Beckham is saying way more than 50 words now... when he wants to!)
I love those boys of mine.
And I love that they both want to mirror their daddy-- because he's as about as good as they come.

Friday
the weather was amazing here.  We stayed outside almost the entire day, blowing bubbles and jumping on the trampoline.
Maddox dressed himself.
And Beckham...
didn't dress at all!

That evening we went to my mom's for a slumber party.
We made Kahlua Coladas and watched movies until 1:00am.
Unfortunately, B came down with croup during the night, though, and kept his feet wrapped around my sister's neck, so no one slept too well.
Saturday
I was on call and B was croupy, so we hung around mom's.
We rode the Ranger, played in the dirt, Maddox ran all the way from our land-- up the driveway-- to mom's (while Al and I followed behind him on the Ranger), rode the tractor with Pop, and layed around.

That night, Beckham's croup got worse and Maddox woke up during the night screaming with ear pain.

Sunday was Easter.
I woke up early and made the boys appointments at the doctor.
We bathed and dressed...

And while waiting for our appointment, Maddox's Motrin kicked in and B stopped having stridor...
and I thought there is no way that I can take these healthy looking children into that office on EASTER Sunday looking like this...
So I cancelled their appointments.

And we carried on with Easter.
{Luckily for us, Maddox didn't complain of ear pain again, and it was late in the night last night before Beckham's croup symptoms returned.}

I tell you every year that I never believed in the Easter bunny when I was little.
We aren't anti-Easter bunny either, but because it wasn't a tradition I practiced, I just don't even remember it until I see FB blow up with pictures and then its late at night and I am all out of luck!

But my husband, who's always ahead of the game, walked in to mom's yesterday with a Ninja Turtle and Power Ranger figurine for Maddox and B a little dump truck!
And I had not said a word about it!

And thankfully,  my sister put together baskets for each of the kids-- (since I didn't even remember a BASKET) full of goodies and my mom gets them each a few new outfits every year as well.

So they, like me, don't even have a clue that there's anything else out there, and were pumped with their Easter treasures!

Even if they weren't from a over sized rabbit, during the night.

Sometimes I worry that I am making them quirkier than they already are by not following the rules...
But then Maddox's teacher told me that he recited the entire Easter story for their class this week at school, so I figure we are doing all right.

"He is risen."
That's his favorite part of the story.
Sometimes I want to eat the cuteness right off their faces...
And kiss my husband's cheeks off.
So we drove around on the Ranger until the boys fell asleep and soaked it in.

Just just as we pulled back up to the house, my kids heard the voices of their cousins...
they popped up like they were never down and played like it was their last day on Earth!

We ate, hunted eggs, had a war of confetti, blew bubbles and flew kites.

And what more could you ask from Easter?!

Now, if you are still awake after looking at 18,000 pictures,
today
The weather was still amazing.
Beckham and I had a great bonding-day while Maddox was at school.
We had a play date at the park afterwards with a few of Maddox's friends...
we visited Daddy at work...
and call was started out slow, so the boys and I got to play outside until it got dark.

These were a few of my favorite days.

  1. I'm just going to start out by saying how amazing you look...in every picture. Not fair!

Aren't you just loving all of this wonderful weather?! Y'all are like us and taking full advantage. You have such great pictures too! You bad iPhone mom!!!

We don't do the Easter bunny either. The girls get stuff, but not from a Santa-like bunny. I honestly had no idea that went on until a few years ago. Saturday night at around 10, I ran into a friend of mine in HEB...freaking out because she had FORGOTTEN the Easter bunny came the next morning. She called a babysitter in just so that she could go shopping. Then when she told me how much $$$ she was spending on each kid, I nearly flipped. I just told her that we don't do that, and got a surprised response. Oh well, one less thing to feet over - I have enough already.

Like you said in your blog before this (that I just now saw today...where have I been?!), we should all agree to disagree. But, I have to say I really hope my kids don't end up expecting something similar to their friends. We spoil them rotten, I know. But dang, I'm drawing the line.

    Rant over!

  3. I love that you are a picture taker AND a picture poster like I am sometimes. :)
    Those tractor pictures are amazing.
I'm so glad you loved the food truck park. I need to go when there is live music sometime.
I have never made Boyd an easter basket, and I'm not sure why. My mom or Kevin's mom usually do. I might have already written this to you. Anyway, I guess I don't always remember or don't want to spend the money, or maybe I just break from tradition a lot too. I can't keep up with it all, and kudos to the moms that can. I'm just not one of them.
I love the boys in their cute Easter shorts. Adorable!
It looks like it was a great few days. Your pictures make me happy!
